Another fantastic bit of craftsmanship as work has been completed on the £150k reconstruction of a failed headwall at Gatehouse Bridge in Maresfield.

The work included the following:

  • Installation of temporary dams with flows flumed through the existing culvert.
  • Installation of concrete apron downstream and concrete footing to section of downstream headwall, with the apron extending to support the new gabions.
  • Replacement of the failed downstream gabion baskets.
  • Demolition and reconstruction of the downstream sandstone headwall.
  • Careful removal of the existing road surface and construction of a concrete saddle over the brick culvert.
  • Reconstruction of the road and installation of bespoke steel rail parapet fencing to meet the local stakeholders wishes.

Well done to Guy, Danny and the team for an exceptional piece of work.
