Pleased to share that works have now been successfully completed on our recent project in Puttenham.

The team constructed a 20-metre retaining wall under the constraints of a Badger Licence, after a badger tunnel had undermined the road. While the original programme allowed four weeks, ecological restrictions reduced this to just two — a challenge we were able to meet through excellent collaboration.

By working closely with the client, Ringway / Surrey County Council, and our sister companies Hobart and JP Hunter, we delivered the scheme within the shortened timeline. Key changes included replacing the planned gabion baskets with precast concrete blocks and using a local depot for storage and shuttle deliveries to site.

Our site team also worked closely with SCC ecologists to ensure the works had minimal impact when the badgers return, including installing a dedicated crossing point and landscaping designed around their natural behaviours.

A “badger crossing” was installed under the road, ensuring safe passage for our furry friends and reducing the risk of traffic accidents.

A huge thank-you to everyone involved for your hard work and teamwork in making this project a success.
