Work has been completed on the replacement and re-routing of a collapsed Sussex Sandstone Drain, which crossed the unimprovably named Crazy Lane in Sedlescombe.

The works for East Sussex Highways included the installation of a 600mm diameter HDPE culvert/pipe at a depth of 2-2.5m, and the construction of 3 no. 1500mm dia. manholes and 2 no. sandbag headwalls.

The sandbags were hydroseeded to ensure rapid growth was established

With the exception of the road crossing, all of the work was carried out on private land, so credit to all involved for keeping the various stakeholders onside during what was a challenging project.

The drain ran close to homes on a private road.
Leaving a site looking as good, if not better, is an important part of our work.
