Work has been completed this week on the latest of the Tilting Weir installation projects on Pevensey Levels for the Water Management Alliance. The Hankham Gut scheme involved the excavation of the existing 450mm diameter pipework at a field crossing point, and replacing with a new 600mm diameter pipe between two new precast headwalls.
A double leaf penstock was installed at the upstream headwall to improve flow management. The embankment was then reinforced with a Rootlok bag system for erosion control, and the field crossing was reconstructed with MOT Type 1. An excellent job in some very challenging weather early on, so well done to all the team.
