Working alongside Aquatic Control Engineering Ltd on behalf of the Pevensey & Cuckmere Water Level Management Board, Thorne have successfully installed five new tilting weirs working to help control the height of the water throughout the Pevensey Levels.

Temporary cofferdams were constructed and an over-pumping system deployed to create a dry and safe working area. Permanent steel sheet piles were then installed to accommodate a solar powered automated tilting weir, making adjustments throughout the year to keep the water levels constant.

The £675,000 scheme also included replacing a 900mm diameter culvert to improve access to the levels, and thanks to an unusually dry spring and some exceptional work by the whole team, the project was successfully completed on time and on budget.
