The civil works to support ammonia removal as part of the Water Industry National Environmental Programme (WINEP) and manage the quality of treated water being discharged to local watercourses, including the following:
- Repurposing the existing SAFF Feed Pumping Station and utilising as the Tertiary Treatment Plant (NSAF) Feed Pumping Station.
- New valving arrangement within existing valve chamber
- 195m long 400mm dia. rising main to Tertiary Treatment Plant.
- 155m 600mm dia. gravity reed bed distribution chamber feed (treated water)
- Tertiary Treatment Plant – RC base and plinths for 3 No. Nitrifying Sand Activated Filters (NSAFs) inclusive of a high-level gravity feed distribution chamber
- Bases for new LVA1 to feed the NSAF plant and new LVA 12 to feed the NSAF Feed PS.
- Installation of weir within FE sampling chamber
- Site-wide services (Cable ducts & draw pits / drainage / potable water / washwater / process pipework)
- Concrete footpaths & bollards / Armco barriers to protect new structures
Just a quick line to pass on the thanks I have given the site team for the care and vigilance they have shown installing the ducting from the Chemical Dosing point to the NSAF pumping station.
This was a tricky activity and was executed with care and consideration for the numerous services that have been located in the dig.
