North Park Furnace is a Scheduled Monument including the archaeological remains of the furnace and the immediate woodland east of the pond dam. A public footpath and bridleway run across the dam. There is a sluice controlling water flows through the furnace site at the north end of the dam and a relief spillway at the southern end. The works involved:
- Repair and conservation of the southern spillway including reconstruction of the stone retaining wall, wing walls, barrel arch and stone weir channel.
- Erosion protection measures to the inlet and outlets.
- Completion of groundworks and erosion protection measures to link the channels from the north sluice and southern spillway.
- The repair and conservation of the northern sluice structure including brick build sump, concrete culvert and retaining wall. Attenuation and erosion control measures to the outlet area.
- Construction of new sluice gate control measures and access platforms.
- Repair and conservation of the Furnace archaeological site including attenuation of flows, Repair of structures and protective groundworks to adjacent banks.
