The sewer is part of the network of watercourses that make up the Pevensey Levels, and the project involved replacing a collapsed culverted section that allowed access to the neighbouring farmland.
Firstly, a sheet piled cofferdam was installed, along with an overpumping system to keep the working area dry and accessible. The failed section of pipework was then excavated and removed before the installation of the replacement 900mm i.d. concrete pipe and two pre-cast Althon headwalls.
The project was finished with a Rootlok bag system to stabilise the embankments to the sides of the headwalls.
