The failure of a road bridge in a minor country lane led to an emergency scheme under a road closure and was an opportunity to show the extent of the skills of our directly employed workforce. The work included the following:
- Installation of temporary dams with flows flumed through the existing culvert.
- Demolition and reconstruction of the downstream sandstone headwall.
- Careful removal of the existing road surface and construction of a concrete saddle over the brick culvert.
- Reconstruction of the road and installation of bespoke steel rail parapet fencing to meet the local stakeholders wishes
Wow. It looks really good down there now. You’ve made a really good job of it.
