As part of our Framework contract, with Wealden District Council, we have undertaken various schemes to upgrade the Cuckoo Trail (parts of the old railway network that are no longer in use and have been converted to a trail for walking / cycling / horse riding).

The projects have primarily focussed on widening the trail, tarmacking a previously unsurfaced section, and overlaying existing tarmac, and has also included the installation of counters to monitor usage by cyclists and horse riders, as well as bollards, benches and picnic areas to enhance the overall visitor experience.

It was also our pleasure to install a commemorative bench for Graham Kean, Wealden District Council’s former Engineer and Countryside Officer. Created by his fellow volunteers at The Bluebell Railway, the bench is a lasting testament to Graham’s dedication to the Cuckoo Trail and other local landmarks.
