The Client’s property had suffered a significant landslip, which had put their house and garage at risk, so approached us for a Design & Build solution to stabilise the embankment. The works involved:

  • Undertaking 3D ground modelling of the existing and proposed slope.
  • Designing a drainage solution for the slope to alleviate hydrostatic pressure.
  • Remove fish from the pond to specialist storage
  • Construct temporary access road into the pond.
  • Construct RC foundations for retaining wall 45m long x 2.5m wide x 3m deep in 5m bays to maintain the stability of the bank.
  • Install land drainage behind the gabion retaining ball.
  • Construct 4m high gabion retaining wall.
  • Reconstruct slope above the gabion retaining wall, using granular material previously imported for the access road.
  • Erect post and rail fencing to the back of the gabion retaining wall.
